CNC Programmers Jobs

Computerized numerical control (CNC) is commonly used in the manufacturing of customised parts. Mathematical and numerical information is inputed into a computer to specify the actions to be performed by a computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) machine. Once the specifications are set, the machine begins to manufacture the product through drilling, cutting, and threading. CNC software is used to program the precise needs and specifications of the project at hand. This process of manufacturing is often used for automobiles, medicine, military, aerospace, or construction.

CNC Programmers in the Construction Industry

Depending on the architectural and engineering designs of a certain construction project (such as a building job), CNC programmers are employed to customise and manufacture parts that are not readily available. With the use of computers, CNC programmers create or manipulate software to input the dimensions, speeds, measurements, and other specifications needed for manufacturing. Aside from this, these professionals are also involved in the operation of the CNC machine in order to inspect quality control and make any needed adjustments to the program or machine. Other tasks that CNC programmers have to complete include the following:

• Reading and interpreting engineering designs and blueprints
• Plan, program, test, and adjust CNC program specifications
• Sometimes need to use computer-aided design (CAD) software to conceptualize final results
• Work closely with project managers and other professionals to assure quality and standards
• Make use of tools to make adjustments to CNC machines

Requirements and Qualification

Most employers require a high school education, with extensive experience in the field. Some require applicants to have a degree in engineering, programming, or other relevant fields. Since CNC programmers often work as part of a team, it is important that applicants have good schedule management, teamwork, and communication skills. Strong mathematical and numeracy skills are needed to perform efficiently and precisely. Compensation is dependent on the type of work done, and the applicant's qualification and experience.
