                  Production assistant jobs are the types of jobs involving a series of odd tasks that will ensure the smooth flow of the production process. This just means that your jobs as a production assistant is to make sure that the director, the producers, and the actors all get what they want.

                  In the world of advertising, production assistants are usually involved in the filming of television commercials. Television commercials are intended for the purpose of introducing and promoting the client's products and services to the paying public. The main objective of television commercials is to convince the paying public to buy their products and render their services.

                  As a production assistant, you need to do a series of production tasks that may include collecting props, answering phone calls, delivering tapes, or photocopying manuscripts as well as a series of odd jobs that may include feeding parking meters, making coffee, packing boxes, or peeling potatoes.

                  Although there are really no specific academic requirement for production assistant jobs, many employers prefer those applicants with college degrees in journalism, communications, and liberal arts. An internship in an advertising agency, a film studio, or a television station will also be advantageous. To gain success as a production assistant, you need to be creative, alert, flexible, efficient, and detail oriented.

                  Since production assistant jobs don't come in with lots of training and specific instructions, you have to learn how to work independently. You have to exercise your creativity and flexibility in order to accomplish the specific tasks given to you - no matter how big or how menial they are.

                  Even the slightest mistake can put the production off schedule, off budget, or off track so you have to be ready with some back-up plans. Being the production assistant also means that you are designated to be the one who saves the day.
