          Prepress Manager Jobs

          Prepress manager jobs are the types of jobs involving the management of the processes between the acquisition of artworks or manuscripts and the manufacture of image carriers or printing plates. Since prepress manager jobs require a lot of social interaction, you need to have excellent language and communication skills.

          As the prepress manager, you need to coordinate with both the sales team and the production team to guarantee that the client expectations and the company objectives are met. You also need to provide the clients with advice regarding the preparation of digital files.

          Computer proficiency is very much needed in prepress manager jobs. You need to know the PC to Mac and Mac to PC conversion processes as well as file compression, print spoolers, and disk repair. Thorough knowledge in software such as Ad Illustrator, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe InDesign, Adobe PageMaker, Adobe Photoshop, CorelDraw, Corel WordPerfect, Quark Xpress, Macromedia Freehand, and Microsoft Word is both a requirement and an advantage.

          Being familiar with the different practice and processes in the world of printing will help you in this job. Most employers prefer prepress manager job applicants who have the ability to send files to color copiers, docutechs, high-speed digital copiers, and imager setters. You also have to stay updated about the latest technologies and software tools which can be used in the various prepress processes. An experience or a background in paste-up and book imposition will be very beneficial for prepress managers like you.

          The academic requirement for prepress manager jobs is a bachelor's degree in advertising, computer science, fine arts, or information technology but an excellent computer aptitude might just get you through. You need to have at least 2 years of experience in print production or at least a year of experience in graphic design in order to land prepress manager jobs.
